The customer contacted us for put-back and reconstruction services after a severe ceiling collapse in their home. Overhead water intrusion or structural deterioration had caused the drywall, plaster, and underlying insulation above a bedroom doorway to fail and fall through, exposing the bare roof rafters, black barrier paper, and ceiling joists while leaving debris across the room below.
We provided a comprehensive ceiling reconstruction and structural put-back solution to restore the room to pre-loss condition. Our technicians first cleared away the fallen plaster, drywall remnants, and ruined insulation debris, safely prepping the surrounding perimeter and framing. We inspected the exposed wooden roof rafters and framing to confirm all structural elements were dry and sound. Next, we installed fresh, properly sized CertainTeed kraft-faced fiberglass batt insulation between the ceiling joists, securing the vapor barrier with precise stapling to ensure complete thermal efficiency and moisture control. Finally, we squared off the perimeter drywall seams to prepare the ceiling plane for hanging new gypsum wallboard, taping, mudding, and finishing.
